Food minister urges people to be frugal

On Friday, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder urged people to be thrifty amid rising commodity prices and the current market situation.

“If the price of imported goods increases anywhere in the world, prices will also increase in our country. We have nothing to do here. We must be frugal, we must be frugal, and we must be self-sufficient. Only then will a happy, prosperous and developing Bangladesh be built,” he said at the award ceremony of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Gold Cup National Football Tournament. Referring to the leaders and workers of the Nationalist Party of Bangladesh, the food minister said those who shot people for fertilizer and electricity while in power said they would go for a movement.

Bangladesh is safe in the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina alone, he continued, because the development of Bangladesh is only possible because of her.

He said the country was not safe from any other person or party leader.

Sapahar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun presided over the ceremony while Upazila Parishad President Shahjahan Hossain Mandal was a special guest.

Among others, Upazila Agriculture Officer Shapla Khatun, Health Officer Muha Ruhul Amin, Police Officer in Charge of Sapahar Tarekur Rahman Sarkar, Upazila League President Awami Shamsul Alam Shah Chowdhury, Secretary General Masud Reza Sarwar and freedom fighter Omar Ali Mollah were present at the award ceremony.
